Brexciya
In the next chapter of the QUENCH x PDC residency, Brexciya brings together artists Kumbirai Makumbe, Emmanuel Awuni, and Athen Kardashian & Nina Mhach Durban in an exhibition that challenges and reimagines narratives of belonging, resistance, and rebirth.
Inspired by Drexciya โ the speculative mythology created by Detroitโs legendary electronic duo - this exhibition dives deep into the politics of migration, identity, and transformation. Set against the backdrop of Margate and Thanet, Brexciya situates these global themes within the local realities of a region pivotal to the Brexit story.
Through multimedia installations, sculpture, and sound, the artists explore what it means to move, adapt, and survive in a world shaped by borders and what it means to reclaim joy, connection, and possibility beyond them.
For People Dem Collective, Brexciya continues our exploration of space, care, and community power honouring diasporic creativity as a force of resistance and renewal.
